Hello

I am yenpen

My work is an echo of the stillness found beneath a vast, watchful sky — a collection of memories and reflections, dreams, and aspirations, woven into something we call art. I seek to build sanctuaries of calm and solitude, inviting others to find safety within the mysterious depths of the dark. Like distant stars, these pieces are quiet as they reach for the light, reminding us that even in the deepest shadows, hope remains a steady glow above.

Growing up with cartoons, animation and singing, I have always been interested in dipping my feet into the depths of the art industry. Animation was such an inspiration to me, with it being my motivation to continue with this journey.

My relatives, although they were skeptical of how I wanted to be in an industry that wasn't as definite when it comes to income, they wholeheartedly supported me and even encouraged me to pursue the career I want. And thus, I embarked on becoming an artist from the age of seven.

Ever since the start, my relatives has loved art. They loved seeing paintings, drawings, sculptures, and more. But, they never knew how to make them theirselves. My cousin, who was the only person who knew how to drew, often would carry a sketchbook with her to draw on whenever she was bored. She loved it -- although she was a perfectionist, she always managed to copy pictures, landscapes, and the characters we would end up loving as we watched our shows.

But one thing stuck to me. And it was her admitting that she didn't know how to make her own characters come to life. And that was exactly what I wanted to do with my drawings. I wanted to make something original -- something that people would be proud of seeing or receiving.

Shortly after, I would start writing my own short stories that were formed in my head because of... admittedly not liking a rushed work from a creator that I followed so dearly every week to watch. I couldn't stand by and watch the characters I grew to love be treated in such a way. So I started writing. No matter how cliche it was, I just loved putting my stories out for people to read. For people to maybe relate to.

Then I realized. It was not art itself that I loved. It was the comfort that people would feel when they can relate to something -- that someone may need the message that I have written on a piece of paper on my notebook.

Blogging, singing and practicing my drawings -- that was my schedule everyday as I realized this. My motivation and the reason I want to be in this industry.

And before I knew it, I was here. Where I dreamed to be.

And my journey will only continue.
